Degu diet

DSCN7791.JPG

Degus should be fed a variety of hays, leaves, flowers, branches and roots. Pellets should only be used as a supplement, not a main food source.

High sugar items like raisins should be avoided as degus are very prone to diabetes

Forage:

Hay:

timothy hay.jpg

We buy our degus Timothy Hay from https://www.timothyhay.co.uk/

We also love the Ings hay from https://www.hay-and-straw.co.uk/

There are also quite a few nice pet shop hays that are mixed with herbs and flowers

Pellets:

The vast majority of pellets on the market have poor quality ingredients that contribute to gut problems. Pellets should not have ingredients like soybean hulls, wheat feed, soybean meal or molasses
